The Grade II* listed Theatre Royal Wakefield, built in 1894, is the smallest surviving Matcham theatre auditorium at 499 seats. Its auditorium is named after Matcham and the Frank Matcham Society was founded at the theatre in 1994.

Capital grants of up to £7,500 (previously £5,000) are available to theatres across the UK that are operated by registered charities and not-for-profit groups for essential capital works that will enable them to be more accessible, viable and able to thrive.

Small grants, generally for under £5,000, are available to UK registered charities and charitable organisations for projects which advance the creative arts in the United Kingdom, particularly those which support artists at the start of their professional career. Individuals are also regularly awarded a grant.
