Community Engagement & Functional Skills Tutor

As a Community Engagement & Functional Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for providing accredited and unaccredited functional skills delivery to young learners aged 16-24 with Special Educational Needs who possess Education and Health Care Plans. The role includes coordinating and leading a practical day of experiential learning tailored to individual learner interests, which involves community-facing activities. You will also be responsible for directing and supervising Education Support Assistants (ESAs) who work with small groups of learners on that day. This role is based across our learning sites in Truro and Penzance and involves two days of teaching and one day of planning each week.
Role Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Teaching qualification and relevant teaching experience

Knowledge and experience in working with learners with Special Educational Needs and EHCPs

Strong organisational and communication skills
-
Ability to adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs

A passion for helping young learners achieve their full potential

Experience in coordinating experiential learning activities is an advantage

Ability to work at both Truro and Penzance learning sites as required
