The King's Fund seeks nominations to recognise volunteers' contribution to Cornwall

2023 recipients

Cornwall has a proud heritage of volunteering, with an estimated 140,000 volunteers giving up their time for others. These hours alone contribute over £400M to the economy in Cornwall.

Cornwall VSF is delighted to see so many names from our membership on the nominations list for the King’s Award this year.

Recipients for a 2023 award included:

  • DISC Newquay
  • First Light South West
  • Pegasus Men’s Wellbeing Centre;
  • St Blazey Recycle, Reuse, Resale CIC
  • St Petrocs

Previously known as The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, the Award has been shining a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups from across the UK for many years.

Equivalent to an MBE, The King’s Award for Voluntary Service is awarded for life.

Nominations are now open for 2024 King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS), the highest award given to local voluntary groups in the UK.

The window for the 2024 nominations closes on 15 September 2023, with winners announced in November 2024.

“The King’s Award for Voluntary Service celebrates groups that are truly outstanding and make a tangible difference to their local community.

“We are looking for groups where volunteers, rather than paid staff, are in the driving seat and they collectively work to the highest standards to deliver true impact.

“It is so important to recognise and thank those exceptional neighbourhood groups and nomination is a simple process.  We have had many successful Cornish winners of what is now The King’s Award for Voluntary Service in the 20 years since it started.  However, there are so many brilliant voluntary organisations that have yet to be nominated for the award and I would really like to see more put forward.

“Please get nominating!”
