Healthwatch Cornwall, the independent people’s champion for health and social care, is looking to recruit a Vice Chair and new Directors to the Healthwatch Cornwall Board.

We are keen to ensure that our strategic leaders are representative of all sections of the community and the people of Cornwall. We especially welcome applications from those from a black and minority ethnic background, those with a physical disability or are neuro-diverse, working age and those who identify with a gender or non-aligned gender other than female as we are currently under-represented in these areas.

We are especially looking for people who can strengthen our Board with experience of:

  • Network within Health, Care, and/or the Voluntary sectors
  • Practitioner/Manager in Social Care
  • Lived experience personally or as a carer of long term health and care needs
  • Business Development and Communications

Vice-Chair

To assist the Board Chair in performing their duties and responsibilities. In addition to, general support to the Board and CEO to ensure Healthwatch Cornwall is managed efficiently, effectively and in line with its constitutional and statutory obligations, its code of conduct and best practice.

It is anticipated the duties of the Vice-Chair will take 1-2 days per month and the role has an allowance of £2,000 pa in recognition of this time.

Directors – Healthwatch Cornwall

To be involved in the strategic planning and direction of Healthwatch Cornwall, in line with agreed objectives and the Department of Health and Healthwatch England requirements, through good governance and effective strategic planning.

Applicants should have experience of working collaboratively with partners at Board level, with the ability to influence others through persuasion, tact, diplomacy and reasoning, as well as experience of leading an organisation as a member of a management board, committee or senior management team.

You will need a good understanding of health, social care and wellbeing policy and issues/challenges facing the NHS, Local Authorities and the Care sector across Cornwall.
