W J Mills Cottage Trust
- Looking to put back into the community?
- Have a few spare hours to make a difference?
- Experience of social housing or property management?
- Interested in supporting one of the West Country’s largest almshouses?
The W J Mills Cottage Trust dates back to 1930 when its benefactor, William John Mills, acquired a number of properties in St Day. Now, over 90 years later, the charity has over 40 properties and is one of the largest almshouse charities in the South West.
We currently have 5 trustees, one the great-granddaughter of WJ Mills, and are seeking one or two more dynamic individuals to join the team.
The trust exists to provide housing for those in need in the local area. Although a large part of our work is property-based, we are a compassionate, caring group who always go the extra mile for our residents.
There is a practical side to the organisation, much of which is conducted by the chair with support from two clerks, but there are also governance issues etc overseen by the board of trustees which meets four times a year at our office in St Day, near Redruth. Of course, there is contact between these meetings and the very occasional extra meeting.
If this sounds like something you would like to be part of, you can find more about us by emailing our chair at [email protected] or visiting our website: www.wjmillscottagestrust.org.uk
