The Edward Gostling Foundation: Capital Grants Programme
The Foundation’s Capital Grants Programmeoffers grants of up to £250,000 for UK charities and Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs) that have been registered with their appropriate regulatory body (i.e. the Charity Commission, Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator) for at least 3 years to bring forward major capital projects that meet one or more of the Foundation’s 4 themes (listed below) in order to build new capacity, promote sustainability and bring about a step change in the way care is provided.
Grants can be used for construction and fitting out of new buildings and/or extensions to existing buildings that cost at least £1,000,000.
Applications may be made for any amount up to £250,000. However, please note that the Foundation prefers to be part of a consortium of funders and will not fund the entire project. It recommends applicants have sought and secured at least 50% of the project’s funding before applying.
The Foundation’s 4 themes are (click on a heading to go to the respective page on its website):
1. Health and wellbeing – improving people’s physical/mental health and general welfare.
2. Independent Living – helping people to live independently.
3. Respite – Recognising family carers for the fantastic and vital work they do, and/or
4. Transition – Helping people into employment, housing or supported living.
There is no standard form for this programme. Applicants should create your own ‘free form’ Word document following the same format and headings as shown in the Foundation’s ‘Guidance for Preparing a Capital Grant Application’ download document (scroll down the page to the heading ‘Guidance for Preparing a Capital Grant Application’). This will need to be uploaded as part of the online application. Further information about the programme and how to apply is available on the Foundation’s website.
If your application is accepted for consideration, the Foundation may ask for more detailed information as part of its due diligence progresses which could also include a visit by a member of the Foundation’s team and/or a presentation to some or all of our Trustees.
Applications may be made at any time.
