The Bruce Wake Charity
The Bruce Wake Charity usually provides grants of under £5,000, with no matched funding requirement, for UK registered charities that are providing leisure activities for people with a disability, particularly where applicants can demonstrate the following:
- Beneficiaries are physically disabled wheelchair users.
- Providing improved access for wheelchair users, and
- Provision of a sporting or leisure activity involving disabled wheelchair users.
For projects to improve access for wheelchair users, grants of between £3,000 and £25,000 are available.
During the year ended 5 April 2024, the Trust made 279 (2023: 269) grants to institutions totalling £793,432 (2023: £738,296).
In addition, 102 grants (2023: 57) were made to individuals amounting to £215,262 (2023: £132,661). The Trust stopped taking applications from individuals at the start of April 2024.
The vast majority of grants awarded (96%) to institutions were for £5,000 or less. Grant recipients that received an award of over £5,000 are listed on page 11 of the Trust’s annual accounts. There is no matched funding requirement.
The Trust states in its annual accounts that it has a reasonable expectation that it has adequate resources to continue for the foreseeable future.
The Trust has a 2-stage application process. UK charities should initially complete the online preliminary application form available on the Charity’s website (scroll down to the foot of the page). Please note that eligible organisations may only apply once in any 12-month period.
Applications may be made at any time and are considered by the Trust every 3 months.
