The Anton Jurgens Charitable Trust

The Anton Jurgens Charitable Trust supports socially disadvantaged groups and individuals in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands. Established in 1969, it was named after Anton Jurgens, one of the founders of the multinational company Unilever. The Anton Jurgens Charitable Trust is based in the UK and registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales.

In the UK, the Trust supports registered charities with grants up to £10,000. The UK iteration of the Anton Jurgens Charitable Trust provides grants to registered UK-based charities that are supporting people of all ages who are socially disadvantaged and/or have disabilities.

The following conditions apply to the Trust’s UK grant-making:

1. The Trust only considers applications from UK-registered charities with an annual income not exceeding £500,000.
   
2. Charities that have received a grant from the AJCT in the past 3 years cannot apply.
   
3. Charities supporting research, the arts and cultural or religious-based activities fall outside AJCT’s scope, unless they are engaged in the development of therapies.
   
4. The Trust only offers grants to charities that operate exclusively inside the UK.
   
5. The Trust does not provide grants to Community Interest Companies (CICs).
   
6. To be considered, applying charities must have been registered as a UK-based charity for at least 3 years.
   
7. Only applications for financial support not exceeding £10,000 will be considered.
   
8. The Trust only considers applications where the applying charity’s financial accounts to the UK (including: Scottish and Northern Ireland) Charity Commission have been submitted on time and no later than 28 days overdue.

Please note that being selected to receive a grant does not disqualify a charity from reapplying in order to be considered in the next committee meeting.
