Trustee(s)
WJ Mills Cottages Trust
The role of Trustee is a vital position within our almshouse organisation, helping to ensure that we continue to deliver on our central remit of providing essential housing for those most in need in our local area.
The W J Mills Cottages Trust dates back to 1930 when its benefactor, William John Mills, acquired a number of properties in St Day. Now, over 90 years later, the charity has over 40 properties and is one of the largest almshouse charities in the South West.
We currently have 5 trustees, one the great-granddaughter of WJ Mills, and are seeking two or three more dynamic individuals to join the team.
There is a practical side to the organisation, much of which is conducted by the chair with support from two clerks, but there are also governance issues etc overseen by the board of trustees which meets four times a year at our office in St Day, near Redruth. Of course, there is contact between these meetings and the very occasional extra meeting.
Experience
We are inviting applications from any individuals that want to be part of a team that is making a difference to people’s lives in St Day and the surrounding area, so enthusiasm and commitment are the two greatest qualities we are most seeking.
However, it would also be a bonus if applicants could offer additional skills including:
- Legal
- Property-related such as surveyors and architects
- Publicity and Community engagement
- Caring for the elderly and vulnerable
If this sounds like something you would like to be part of, you can find more about us at https://wjmillscottagestrust.org.uk/or email our chair at [email protected].
