Stroke Befriending Co-ordinator
Volunteer Cornwall
We are seeking someone to coordinate a befriending service that supports the recovery of stroke survivors. Within this you will provide pastoral and logistical support to an experienced bank of volunteers, as well as recruiting and training stroke befrienders to deliver a peer-to-peer support service.
We are looking for someone who can develop and deliver training and compile suitable resources. Ultimately you need a passion for making a difference to the lives of people.
We are actively recruiting someone with emotional intelligence to establish a rapport with stroke survivors that reduces potential barriers to communication, whilst drawing upon your professional and / or personal experience to inform your approach.
A key element of this role is liaising with other professionals. We require someone who understands the need to adapt their approach when interacting with a wide range of professionals.
Volunteer Cornwall’s innovative and collaborative ethos will support your professional experience. We need you to be a proactive team worker, flexible in your approach and willing to learn as you go. An understanding of the health and care system in Cornwall would be beneficial.
You must have competent IT skills along with attention to detail and good recording keeping. Access to your own transport during working hours is essential.
The contract for this project is funded annually and currently runs to 31 March 2025 with the potential for an extension. Volunteer Cornwall has run this project since 2018.
The work base will be determined by where the successful candidate lives. All colleagues are expected to attend head office in Truro regularly and when required.
