Community Accelerator

Home to about 1,940 people according to the 2021 Census, St Newlyn East is a vibrant, lively village with a very rich history reaching back in time to the early Middle Ages.
10 minutes from Newquay and 20 minutes from Truro it is described by residents as a lovely place to live where everyone looks out for each other.
This community spirit is supported by many local facilities in the form of businesses, outdoor sporting & play areas along with several community venues to hold indoor events.
One such building is our Village Hall which has recently undergone a refurbishment to make it a more comfortable and sustainable building with the addition of a remote working space.

The Community Accelerator is an exciting new role that will proactively seek to ensure that the Village Hall supports the needs and interests of our diverse local community.

This will entail liaising with the local community, current and potential user groups and local providers of health, wellbeing, education and community services to maximise partnership opportunities and continually develop a vibrant programme of events.
Based at St Newlyn East Village Hall, the role will oversee the day-to-day management of the facilities on behalf of the Management Committee and Trustees.The postholder will lead on marketing and communications for the Village Hall andbe responsible for the hall’s social media accounts, as well as promoting opportunities and events in local newsletters and press.

This is a pilot post, initially expected to take place for one year.

Responsible to St Newlyn East Village Hall Trustees and Management committee, this is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to help us ensure that St Newlyn East Village Hall remains at the heart of local community life.
