Invitation to stand as a Director

Cornwall Climate Action Network

Hours: 2 evening meetings a month plus approximately 5 hours a month between meetings to help our network to thrive
Salary: This is a Voluntary role
Location: Across Cornwall

CCAN is a member-led network of grassroots community groups and organisations led by local people who are working in their communities to address all aspects of the Climate & Ecological emergencies. All our member groups are open to membership from their communities and offer volunteer opportunities for people to become involved in activities such as running community larders, joining in with community growing schemes, gleaning crops to prevent food waste, protecting nature, restoring wildlife habitats, improving local spaces and supporting the development of community energy projects. Community is at the heart of everything we do and we formalised as a large membership CIC in May 2022 to serve our members who lead on their own place-based activities.

We are seeking kind, dedicated, enthusiastic new directors to join our core management team at Cornwall Climate Action Network.

Time commitment – 2 evening meetings a month plus approximately 5 hours a month between meetings to help our network to thrive.

Skills, qualities & experience – we are looking for people who share our values and principles and who are committed to transformational change in Cornwall, The Isles of Scilly and beyond through climate action, nature recovery and building community resilience. Previous experience as a committee member, treasurer, secretary or in a leadership role in a voluntary or community sector organisation would be wonderful, but a commitment to collaborative working is essential.

We would particularly welcome people with any of the following skills and experience – Nature recovery, marine environment, flood risk management, education, wellbeing, creative arts & graphic design, social media & marketing, web design, content creation, recruitment & HR, book-keeping, writing funding applications, policies & procedures, data protection, diversity & inclusion.

Please note all Director positions are voluntary roles, although our Articles of Association allow for Directors to undertake services on behalf of CCAN and be remunerated for this work. All Directors will be listed on Companies House. You can find our listing here, along with our Articles of Association and current Directors.

We are moving towards using sociocracy in our decision making and can support you with training.
