Low Carbon Energy Advisor

Community Energy Plus

Hours: We are open to part-time working arrangements with the right individual. At least 3 days a week availability for this role is required.
Salary: Annual full-time gross salary starting at £27,462 (1 FTE) and rising to £28,224 on achievement of C&G award and completion of probationary period.
Location: Hybrid, Bude (2 days per week) with occasional travel to Truro

To work as part of our Low Carbon Energy Advice team and to work as part of the Resilient Bude programme.

The Bude Climate Partnership is a group of local environmental organisations working together to develop positive community-led climate-change responses throughout the wider Bude area. The partnership has secured funding from the National Lottery Community Fund for a five-year programme, that started in January 2023, that aims to build climate resilience and reduce energy use and carbon emissions across the Bude area. It will galvanise every resident, business, and visitor across all communities to build resilience against the impact of climate change.

We are recruiting a Low Carbon Energy Adviser to promote energy efficiency and to assist householders in the transition to low carbon lifestyles.

Essential qualifications & knowledge

  • BA or BSc Degree in a relevant subject
  • Knowledge of the energy sector in Cornwall.
  • Knowledge of domestic energy efficiency, resource efficiency and low carbon technologies

Knowledge about energy management in a domestic setting is essential for this role. All energy advisers working with Community Energy Plus are required to hold City & Guilds 6281 Level 3 certification in Energy Awareness. Appropriate training will be given if this qualification is not held prior to appointment.

The post-holder will be employed by Community Energy Plus and will work for two days a week on the Resilient Bude project. The remaining time each week will be work supporting CEP’s Low Carbon Energy Advice team, and our clients in the north and east of Cornwall.

We are open to part time working arrangements with the right individual. At least 3 days a week availability for this role is required.

Potentially, some evening and weekend working will also be required.

For 2 days a week the role will be based with the Resilient Bude delivery team, with the expectation of face to face contact with residents in the Bude area.

Engagement with the CEP Advice team will require regular online interactions with occasional attendance at CEP’s Truro office.
