Assistant Coordinator – Family Support Worker

Community Advice & Support Service

Hours: 16
Salary: £10,883 p/a (full time equivalent: £25,506)
Location: Bodmin Magistrates’ Court, PL31 2AL

We’re looking for a compassionate and empathetic Assistant Coordinator -Family Support Worker who shares our vision to improve the lives of people experiencing the Justice System.

Our Justice System does not always address the root causes of crime. Anyone can end up at court alone, feeling powerless, trapped and terrified. We give free, confidential, practical help and emotional support for anyone going through court and into life beyond. We are independent of the Justice System, perfectly-placed inside the Magistrates’ Courts in Devon and Cornwall. We are ready to meet people in their hour of need. Many of these people are facing very complicated situations that have caused them to be at court. We sit down and listen. We think about what that person has been through. We build trust and use our experience to find solutions to complex situations. We try to ensure that each person gets the right tailored support. We help them through the process by, for instance, providing a quiet space; explaining what’s going on; deciphering court language; sitting by their side inside courtrooms; coordinating their needs; and organising referrals to meet their welfare or social needs. We guide towards positive change and stay by their side for as long as they want us.
