Trauma informed lunch and learn – Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Safer Cornwall would like to invite you to its next lunch and learn which will be cover the following subject:

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a transformational and humane approach to human healing and development. The approach was developed in the USA by Dr Richard Schwartz and has become popular world-wide. The model proposes that the self is multiple – we all have different parts that help us to ‘keep the show on the road’ and manage during tough times. Using IFS, we learn about the different parts of ourselves – some of which are burdened following trauma or adversity, some of which have taken on protective roles to help us to function. We learn to be in dialogue with our parts and offer them the help and healing that they need, from our place of inner wisdom and strength (which we all possess, no matter how hard life has been… although we don’t always feel like it!).

Ben Green is a clinical psychologist who works as the Clinical Director for the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training programme at the University of Plymouth. He also works clinically in the NHS, in Inpatient and Crisis Services in Cornwall. He has found IFS to be a life changing approach, both professionally and personally, and he is excited to tell you more about it!
