South West Net Zero Hub: LEAD Webinars

Over the coming months, the South West Net Zero Hub will be hosting a series of four webinars focusing on LEAD projects.

The Local Energy Advice Demonstration (LEAD) programme, managed by the South West Net Zero Hub, has been trialling innovative approaches to retrofit advice for hard-to-reach groups and hard-to-treat homes since Autumn 2023, funded by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero.

To share the learnings of the LEAD programme, the Hub will be running a series of thematic webinars. The information covered in these webinars will be delivered by the partners running the LEAD projects.

Webinar 1- Innovations in Retrofit Advice: Retrofit, Planning & Historic Housing

Date: Tuesday, October 22, 2:00 – 3:30pm

Webinar 1 will focus on how to support homeowners in historic or hard-to-treat homes to implement retrofit measures while navigating planning challenges.

Key outcomes:

  • Learn about the latest retrofit advice practices trialled with real households.
  • Discover scalable solutions to overcome barriers in domestic retrofit.
  • Gain insights into delivering effective retrofit advice in the current landscape.

Webinar 2 – Power in Partnerships: Collaboration and Consortiums in the Retrofit Sector

Date: Wednesday 20 November, 2:00 – 3:30pm

Webinar 2 will focus on how the Retrofit sector can work together for better outcomes.

Key outcomes:

  • Learn how the community energy sector can collaborate within itself
  • Hear how consortiums are formed and operated
  • Gain insights into how the community energy sector can collaborate with the private sector

Webinar 3 – Innovations in Retrofit: Engagement and Communication

Date: Wednesday 11 December, 2:00 – 3:30pm 

Webinar 3 will share lessons learned from the LEAD programme on how to engage and communicate retrofit advice to a wider audience.

Key outcomes:

  • Insights on using visual advice to better engage and inform people on retrofit options
  • Hear about engagement with landlords
  • Find out about overcoming barriers from the perceived cost of free advice
  • How to involve others in the journey: Champions and other models

Webinar 4 – Innovations in Retrofit: Retrofit as a Service

Date: Wednesday 22 January, 2:00 – 3:30pm 

Webinar 4 will focus on how the community energy sector can work with the self-funding market and refine its offer to consumers.

Key outcomes:

  • Learn how celebrating the sector’s success is linked to financial sustainability
  • Hear about misconceptions in the “able- to-pay” market
  • Gain insights on moving from innovation to scalability
  • Focus on homes and the owners – Whole house plans
