OSCP: Introduction to Neglect

This online 2 hour course is designed to offer an introduction to neglect for practitioners from a range of organisations working with children and their families in Cornwall. The course will include:

• Understanding of the term neglect, the reasons why children may be neglected and the contributory factors
• Understanding the 6 types of neglect and recognising the signs of these to support the early identification of neglect
• Understanding the short and long term impact of neglect on children
• Basic knowledge of the Graded Care Profile 2 (GCP2) assessment tool
• reflecting on and learning from child case reviews to improve practice
• understanding what is meant by Early Help and the importance of early identification.
• awareness of the early interventions that are available to support children and families and how to access these.
