NHS Cornwall & IOS ICB: Palliative & End of Life Care (PEOLC) Lived Experience Group – Express your interest

NHS Cornwall & The Isles of Scilly ICB are setting up a palliative and end of life care (PEOLC) ‘Lived Experience Expert Reference Group’ to gather experiences and feedback to help shape and improve the way palliative and end of life services are provided locally.

The PEOLC Lived Experience Group will be helpful in the development of potential new models of care, but will also play a valuable ongoing role in helping to shape future services and and the delivery plan for the 2024-28 strategy.

We are keen to ensure we can connect with VCSE organisations in particular, who provide a voice for communities we hear less from, are marginalised, and those facing inequalities and inequities in experience and access to services and support.

We want people at the end of their lives and those close to them, to receive high quality care, delivered compassionately and with dignity, by the right person, with the right skills at the right time.

Through this new expert reference group there will be opportunities for people to be involved in a variety of ways, from sharing experiences to taking part in workshops, testing new ideas and ways of providing service information, or participating in the health and care system meetings, to help shape and inform how services are provided.

How people can get involved:

We are holding some information events in November to explain what being involved in our expert reference group will involve:

  • Wednesday 13 November – Room 1, Chy Trevail (Bodmin) – 6:30pm – 7:30pm
  • Thursday 14 November – Grenville room, New County Hall (Truro) – 11am – 12pm

Interested people can complete our online form (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LJVMNNX), by Monday 11thNovember, to tell us about their lived experience and confirm the meeting dates they are able to attend.

We welcome all experiences and voices including colleagues who may wish to represent the experiences of those less able to get involved.  We also provide expenses and support to attend meetings.
