Register your interest in delivering Not In Education Employment or Training services

The Skills Funding Agency has launched a pre-qualification questionnaire (PQQ) for organisations interested in delivering its Not in Education Employment of Training (NEET) services.

These services are funded through the Skills Funding Agency by the European Social Fund (ESF), and in Cornwall form part of the Convergence programme.

Any provider who is interested in tendering to deliver NEET provision must respond to this PQQ. It contains basic questions about the organisation, financial standing, capacity and resources, capability and quality management.

The Skills Funding Agency then plans to issue invitations to tender  in October 2010, contracts in December 2010 and delivery should commence in January 2011.

These procurement schedules are subject to the Skills Funding Agency receiving authorisation to proceed following Treasury Spending Guidance and Divisional/Regional requirements within the Skills Funding Agency.

For detailed instructions on how to complete the PQQ online click here to go to the ESF Works website.

Get involved – Police Authority training

Devon & Cornwall Police Authority has a number of exciting roles for volunteers, both hands-on and strategic. These FREE training sessions run by Take Part Cornwall in Bodmin (Tue 7 Sep) and Penzance (Wed 8 Sep) are an introduction to two of them.

ICV 6

Independent Custody Visitors work on the front line of law and order, making visits to busy working police stations. They check and report on the welfare of people in custody, and make sure they know their rights.

Independent Members of the Police Authority work more strategically. They are local people selected from an open recruitment process, who set targets for policing across Devon and Cornwall, and listen to local people to find out what they want from their police force.

An introduction to both roles will be given in both the Penzance and Bodmin training sessions, so come along if either role sounds interesting to you. Though the Devon & Cornwall Police Authority will be replaced in 2012, it is still going ahead with this autumn’s recruitment of new Independent Members to serve until then. Responsiblity for Independent Custody Visitors is anticipated to transfer to the successor policing body.

12pm to 4pm, Tuesday 7 September, Shire House, Mount Folly Square, Bodmin and 12.30pm to 4.30pm, Wednesday 8 September, St John’s Hall, Alverton Street, Penzance.

Book a place by contacting Cornwall VSF on 01872 241584 or email Kath Maguire at kath.maguire@cornwallvsf.org giving your name, contact details and which of the two sessions you would prefer to attend.

To whet your appetitie for the training, Our How To guides give a more detailed introduction to each role. Click on the images below to download full pdf versions.
