Leading and Developing Your Charity

How do you lead a not-for-profit organisation successfully in a time of recession?

How do you turn the challenges of increased demand and reduced resources into an opportunity for growth and development?

At the second meeting of Cornwall Charity Club leaders from two of Cornwall’s most successful organisations will provide us with the inside track on how they have coped with the challenge of leading and developing their organisations.

Shelterbox famously grew ‘from the ground up’ out of a Rotary Club project. Most recently it has taken a high profile role in response to the earthquake in Haiti.

Truro College was just a green field and a dream twenty years ago, but it has grown rapidly to become one of the most well-regarded Colleges of further and higher education the country.

We will hear from Tom Henderson and Ellen Winser about the lessons they have learned through their organisations journeys to success.

These events are free and include a light evening buffet. To book, please fill in the attached flyer.

The deadline for booking is Friday 12th March

Speaker of the House of Commons Visits Cornwall

The Rt Hon John Bercow MP was the keynote speaker at ‘Your Voice’, an innovative free conference designed to help you get your voice heard at all political levels.

‘Your Voice’ explored how citizens can get more involved in informing and influencing decision makers.

This is the first major event for Parliamentary Outreach in the South-West as it pioneers better public engagement with what goes on at Westminster.

It provided information about how to take part in decisions which matter to you or may affect your community, and explain how to get your voice heard, and listened to, at all levels from your local council right up to the European Parliament.

Beyond Copenhagen

CVSF Beyond Copenhagen Invite

We invite you to help reduce Cornwall’s Carbon Emissions over 2010.

The Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum, Community Energy Plus and Cornwall Development Company have organised a free event on the 17th February 2010 with the aim to reduce Cornwall Voluntary Sector’s Carbon by at least 10% over 2010.

This event is specifically aimed at Senior Managers, Chief Executives and Trustees from voluntary organisations that are consuming a lot of energy – particularly those with an annual income of £½ million or over.

The event will be a series of Master Classes in the morning discussing solutions to major carbon producing activities; and also discussing the challenges faced by trying to change your organisation’s habits.

In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to book in a 1:1 surgery with someone from Community Energy Plus and Cornwall Development Agency to focus on your specific issues and opportunities available.

So if you’re one of Cornwall’s Leaders and want to lead by example on the pressing issues of Climate Change, stay one step ahead of oncoming legislation – and reduce your energy bills, then this event is for you.

Please fill in the attached booking form at the top of the page.  You can print and post it should you wish – or simply fill in your details onto the electronic form and click the ‘submit’ button for it to be sent off via cyber space!

The deadline for booking onto this event is the 10th February 2010.
