Cornwall Time Banks

Volunteer Cornwall has just opened the first Cornish Time Bank in St Austell. The Time Bank provides a way for people in St Austell to exchange time with each other on household skills and hobbies. The Time Banking movement started in America and since 1998 over 100 Time Banks are now running across the UK. Giving time by helping someone for an hour is traded for receiving an hour of help from someone else. For example, you could receive an hour of language tuition and in return you could give someone an hour of your time to help them wash their car. Tasks such as gardening, simple DIY, cooking, languages, computer skills, crafts and music can all be swapped through the Time Bank. Being part of a Time Bank is a great way to meet people and give to your community whilst getting something back in return.

So if you are aged 18 or over and live in St Austell and would like to know more then get in touch by ringing Emily on 01726 76633 or emailing emilyh@volunteercornwall.org.uk or popping in at the Volunteer Centre St Austell at 17 Duke Street, St Austell, PL25 5PQ.
