The South West Region Funding Bulletin for late July is available to read online here.

This extensive document is compiled from a range of sources by George, the South West Funding Advisers Forum, supported by Sport England. It features funding opportunities from across the broadly-defined South West region, from Cornwall to Gloucestershire and Wiltshire.

In addition to the bi-monthly bulletin, the linked South West funding information database, developed by the Charities Information Bureau South & West (CIB), is available. It offers a FREE search and is accessible at www.cibsouthandwest.org.uk

VSF helps save £1 million of voluntary sector funding

Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum (VSF) is pleased to announce the safeguarding of £1 million of threatened Cornish voluntary and community sector funding, following negotiations between the sector and Cornwall Council.

The money, from Cornwall Council’s Local Area Agreement, was at risk after central government withdrew £4.5 million promised to the Council during its first round of £6 billion funding cuts.

Cornwall Council funding bulletin – July 16th

Cornwall Council’s funding bulletin for the week commencing Friday July 16th is now available online here.

Highlights this week include a call by the Nuffield Foundation for applications to its Grants For Research and Innovation programme. This scheme makes awards between £5,000 to £150,000, often to voluntary organisations, and includes a broad Open Door category for projects that advance social well being but lie outside the foundation’s main project areas.

The funding bulletins can be a useful source of information about funding opportunities, and cover a wide range of funding trusts and organisations, as well as money available from Cornwall Council.

BIG Lottery Fund seeks partners for Forces In Mind Trust

The BIG Lottery Fund is setting up a new £35 million trust to tackle mental health, drugs and alcohol, and social inclusion issues affecting ex-servicemen making the transition back to civilian life.

The Forces In Mind Trust will be an independent body with a 20 year remit, helping forces personnel who have served in conflicts including Iraq, Afghanistan and the Gulf War. It will also undertake advocacy work to raise awareness of issues affecting veterans.

BIG is seeking voluntary and community sector partners to help deliver the programme, and wants partnerships of organisations, with a mix of expertise, to submit expressions of interest in running the Trust.
