NCVO quarterly survey of charities Qtr 3 2008

The report shows a fall in leaders’ confidence in the future of their own organisation, with the net confidence index falling to 23% from 45% in February 2008. Other results show if charities plan to increase their workforce, collaborate more or compete more, and if charity leaders believe that the worsening economic climate will be a negative force for their own organisation.

Review of the National Occupational Standards for community development work

The Federation for Community Development Learning (FCDL) is working in partnership with LLUK (the Lifelong Learning Sector Skills Council), supported by a project steering group, to undertake the review that will result in new occupational standards that will define what is good quality community development work practice for the next five years or so.

The review started on 11 September and is planned to be completed by March 2009. There are two distinct phases and two parallel processes to this review.

Phase one: runs from 11 September to 7 November 2008 and is designed to gather information from which revised CDW NOS will be drafted.

Phase two: runs from 5 January to 6 February 2009 to consult on the revised draft standards. During this second phase participants will be able to look at the new draft standards based on input and feedback from phase one.
